Making Movies That Speak Directly to the Soul with Lissa Carandang-Sweeny & Mike Macera

"To me, that's what it's about. Just making something with your friends with the resources that you have and showing that it's possible." - Mike Macera

Shoutout to the Brooklyn Film Festival for being an incredible hub for artists to meet.

I had the pleasure of speaking with Lissa Carandang-Sweeney (lead actress) and Mike Macera (writer-director) about their latest narrative feature film, which won the audience award at the Brooklyn Film Festival, titled Alice-Heart.

Set in Philadelphia, an aimless college senior navigates shallow artists, genuine friendships, and homework.

Do you remember those early 2000s films that mixed in comedy with some drama and made you feel like you were a fly on the wall of someone’s life? Alice-Heart is just that; this film feels like comfort.

In this episode, we spoke about transplants, privilege, relatability, friendships, and got real about life as an artist in a big city in your 20s.

Follow the Alice-Heart journey at the Alice-Heart official website, the Alice-Heart Instagram page, and on Lissa and Mike’s Instagram.
