My Mother INSISTED On Watching Babygirl With Me...

Yes, it scarred her.

***MILD SPOILERS BELOW — NOT IN THE VIDEO***

After sitting with my thoughts some more I realize that I feel like an asshole.

We have seen this movie repeatedly. The male CEO has a secret, whirlwind romance with the assistant. Although the stakes are higher in Babygirl, this is no different. Romy’s ambitious, powerful, and gorgeous, and Samuel went for what he liked.

The next-level erotica enhances the film’s intensity. You don’t know you’re on the rollercoaster, that is their relationship until the tension is so strong it fills the theater.

The emoting was phenomenal and the chemistry was otherwordly, which kept me glued for a while. The nearly two-hour runtime gave the relationship time to develop and plant seeds. We even saw one of their little kerfuffles.

It would’ve been cute to see Romy distraught about losing Samuel if their relationship had a little more substance. They’re both gorgeous, filled with dopamine from their workplace sexcapades, and have unresolved issues they are definitely not helping each other work through.

The ending was healing and fair, which I appreciate, but it still was missing something for me.
